This is really reality

Richard Branson, philosopher:

People are beginning to believe now. I think the drop flight two weeks ago, which went beautifully, I think it made people sit up and realize this is really reality.

I suppose, by the way, that by 'this', Branson meant his space programme, that is, he meant something like: People are beginning to realise that my space programme is in fact real (rather than some sort of delusional or impossible enterprise).

But I couldn't help reading it with 'this' referring to the world or experienced reality, so that Branson would have been saying that people are beginning to realise that the world we seem to be in is in fact real (and not some kind of delusion), as in:
You all thought that everything was just being dreamed by a butterfly, but no, this is really reality.
